Hi, I’m Molly! I am a pediatric speech-language pathologist based in Philadelphia. I hold a Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) in Speech Language Pathology through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and a license to practice in the state of Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Rhode Island. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders and a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Misericordia University.
My past experience includes working with toddlers, preschool, and school-age children in both private practice and school settings. Prior to establishing Old City Speech Therapy, I worked as a speech-language pathologist in several school districts, early intervention centers and homes in and around Philadelphia.
During the COVID-19 school closures, I virtually evaluated and treated students residing in PA, CT, and RI. As a clinician, learning the ins and outs of tele-therapy during a time of national crisis was quite an eye-opening experience. I came to understand the significance of building a trusting, positive relationship with each client (which, as it turns out, IS possible over the internet) and the extent to which this impacts therapeutic success. Discovering ways to connect and empathize with children and families - both virtually and in person - has become my passion and daily goal. Through this approach, I find my clients are more willing to participate in sessions, often leading to their communication skills developing at a more efficient rate.
Across all settings, I have regularly collaborated and co-treated with related professionals and other important members of each child's team, such as occupational therapists, physical therapists, developmental specialists, physicians, specialized instructors, nurses and parents/family members. I evaluate and treat children with speech sound disorders, receptive-expressive language delays, fluency disorders, social-pragmatic language delays, and autism spectrum disorders. Areas of particular interest to me include articulation and phonological disorders, motor speech disorders, early intervention for children with language delays, and expressive and receptive language impairments in preschool and school-age children. I am trained in PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) and DTTC (Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing). I have also received additional training in Social Thinking Curriculum for social-pragmatic language disorders.
I have an energetic spirit and find the greatest joy in empowering my clients and their families. I am passionate about using a child’s strengths to build success and celebrating each step of progress along the way. In my free time, I love reading, cooking, baking, exploring new restaurants, yoga, playing with my dogs Cooper and Carl, and traveling to the Thousand Islands and Adirondack Mountains for boating, hiking, fishing, skiing, and spending time with family.
